Maarten Christenhusz
PhD Candidate
Maarten is a PhD student in the Bose-Einstein Condensation Laboratory at the University of Queensland. He joined the group during his Masters, where he set up a two-dimensional optical trap for Bose-Einstein condensates to study quantum turbulence. Currently, Maarten is working on drag phenomena in superfluids.
“These fluids characteristically have zero viscosity, and while viscosity is the origin of drag in classical fluids, we still observe drag in superfluids. In my work we experimentally and numerically look at drag phenomena in superfluids and try to connect the origin of drag in superfluids to classical fluids.”
